Approved Documents
Approved Documents cover the 14 sections of the Building Regulations. They explain both legislative requirements and standards that have to be met in order to comply with the Building Regulations. The current Approved Documents include:
Approved Document A
This Approved Document offers legislative and technical guidance on Part A of the Building Regulations or structural safety standards.
Approved Document B
This Approved Document provides guidance on Part B of the Building Regulations or fire safety standards.
Approved Document C
This Approved Document contains guidance on Part C of the Building Regulations or resistance to contaminants and moisture.
Approved Document D
This Approved Document offers support and guidance on the Part D of the Building Regulations or requirements concerning toxic substances, more specifically control from hazardous substances.
Approved Document E
This Approved Document covers guidance on Part E of the Building Regulations or resistance to sound.
Approved Document F
This Approved Document covers guidance on Part F of the Building Regulations or ventilation.
Approved Document G
This Approved Document provides guidance on Part G of the Building Regulations or guidance on sanitation, hot water safety and water efficiency.
Approved Document H
This Approved Document offers guidance on Part H of the Building Regulations or standards in regard to drainage and waste disposal.
Approved Document J
This Approved Document corresponds to Part J of the Building Regulations or requirements concerning heat producing appliances.
Approved Document K
This Approved Document provides guidance on Part K of the Building Regulations or the measures to provide protection from falling.
Approved Document L
This Approved Document offers guidance on Part L of the Building Regulations or guidance on conservation of fuel and power.
Approved Document M
This Approved Document covers guidance on Part M of the Building Regulations or access to and use of buildings.
Approved Document N
This Approved Document provides guidance on Part N of the Building Regulations or glazing safety which, however, since April 2013 applies only to Wales.
Approved Document P
This Approved Document covers guidance on Part P of the Building Regulations or electrical safety.
